Magnetic resonance tomography (MRT), also called magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), is an imaging technique producing several cross-section images images (the ancient Greek tome means “slice”, and Greek graphein means “to write”). This technique uses magnetic fields and radio waves to measure how much the body’s water molecules are affected by the presence of a strong magnet. Unlike in x-ray examinations, people who have MRT are not exposed to radiation.
