The Institute for Quality and Efficiency (IQWiG) processes your data when you use this website. This data protection policy explains the details of how this is done, informs you of your rights (see section C. Your rights – Data protection) and lists the necessary contact details (see section B. Contact details).

To maintain the operation of the website, your IP address is transferred to us when you use this site. These IP addresses are stored for 14 days in order to make it possible to determine the cause of any errors and ensure the operation of the website. If there are no errors, all of the IP addresses are deleted after 14 days and not compiled with any other personal data. These data are not shared with any third parties except as required by law in the case of criminal prosecution.

A. Detailed information on the processing of data

The processing of your data is handled as follows:

1. Contact form

The contact form allows you to send us queries via e-mail. For the purposes of managing your query, we process your e-mail address and the text content of your query. We process your data on the basis of your consent as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1, lit. a of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The information is forwarded to the mailbox gi-kontakt@iqwig.de. The response is sent from the same e-mail address, and the information is deleted within 30 days of the conclusion of this processing. Your personal data are not shared with any third parties.

2. Recommending website content (e.g. a health information article)

You can recommend our information to others via e-mail. For the purposes of managing your recommendation, we process your e-mail address and that of the recipient. We process your data on the basis of your consent as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1, lit. a of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The information is sent to the recipient, and no processing or storing of your e-mail address occurs, so no deletion is required. Your personal data are not shared with any third parties.

3. Newsletter subscription

You can receive current information from us via e-mail by subscribing to our newsletter. For the purposes of sending our newsletter, we process your e-mail address and your newsletter request. We process your data on the basis of your consent as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1, lit. a of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). When subscribing to the newsletter, you receive a confirmation e-mail (double opt-in – confirmation of the newsletter request). Your e-mail address is deleted within one quarter of unsubscribing from the newsletter and inactivation of your user profile. Your personal data are not shared with any third parties.

4. BING

For searches on our website we use a modified version of Microsoft’s Bing search engine. Our computers direct search queries to Microsoft’s computers in such a way as to prevent Microsoft from receiving any information about our website’s users. Your IP address is not forwarded by us, either.

5. Facebook, Twitter, Google+

If you are a member of one of the social networks Facebook, Twitter or Google+, you can share our information in your social network. For the purposes of improving and increasing the reach of our information, we offer links to these social networks. If you are logged in a as member of your respective social network, your visit to our website will be matched to your network account. The IP address of your device will be shared with the social network you are using. We process your data on the basis of your consent as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1, lit. a of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Further processing by the social network – depending on the recipient – may occur in a country with a lower level of data protection. If you would not like Facebook, Twitter or Google+ to collect your data, we recommend logging out of the respective network and deleting your cookies before visiting our website.

6. Youtube

To better understand some technical health issues, you can view films about various subjects on our Youtube channel. For the purposes of improving our services for you, when you watch our film your device’s IP address is forwarded to the provider Youtube. We process your data on the basis of your consent as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1, lit. a of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Further processing of the data is performed at Youtube in a country with a lower level of data protection. You can find further details on this in Youtube’s data protection policy.

7. AWStats website use analytics

To analyze the use of our website, we process the IP address of your device only in an anonymized form. Matching the IP address to your person is therefore not possible, and not intended..

1. Information about your data, deletion and additional rights

You have the right to receive information about data that has been saved pertaining to your person at any time (Article 15 of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation). In addition, under the legal provisions of Articles 16 to 21 of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, you are entitled to the correction and deletion of your data, and the limitation of the processing and the portability of the data you have provided.
