Whitish-yellowish, often crumbly layer of matter that collects around the genitals – between the glans and foreskin in men, and usually between the inner and outer labia in women, or in the folds of skin around the visible part of the clitoris. Smegma is made up of oily secretions and dead skin cells. It also contains bacteria. For this reason, a build-up of smegma can increase the risk of infections.
