Grading describes the procedure of assessing and categorizing tumor cells by how much they differ from cells of healthy, benign tissue. The tumor cells are examined under a microscope. Grading uses the levels G1 to G3, and sometimes G4. The higher the grade, the more the tumor cells have changed. And quite often, the more they have changed, the more rapidly they are growing and penetrating surrounding tissue.
