growth factors

Growth factors are proteins that affect wound healing in a variety of ways. Growth factors attract inflammatory cells (leucocytes) and tissue cells (fibroblasts) to the wound. The inflammatory cells fight germs. Tissue cells stimulate the growth of new tissue. Growth factors also stimulate the formation of new cells and blood vessels.
